GridTrade vs Tradezella
Tradezella is one of the most polished modern cloud journals — broker auto-import, backtesting engine, optional Mentor / coaching tier. GridTrade is the focused alternative: one flat price, manual entry by design, deep emotion + setup analytics, and EU hosting. Two different bets on what a trading journal should be.
Objective comparison based on publicly available information. Built by a solo founder who is a funded-account day trader. See the full Legal & Source notice at the bottom of this page.
TL;DR — Two design philosophies
- → You believe forced manual entry produces better reflection than auto-import
- → You prefer all features in one flat price rather than tier-based feature gating
- → You run multiple funded accounts (FTMO/Apex/MyForexFunds)
- → EU hosting + GDPR matter to you
- → You want a journaling tool only, not bundled with coaching offers
- → Broker auto-import is non-negotiable
- → You want a built-in backtesting engine inside the journal
- → You're interested in their Mentor program / coaching offering
- → US-hosted is fine, tiered pricing doesn't bother you

Pricing — flat vs tiered
Tradezella uses tier-based pricing — starter tier, then Pro / Premium. Based on their publicly listed tiers as of May 2026, several features relevant to funded-account traders (broader multi-account workflow, advanced analytics, certain emotion/mood tools) appear in higher tiers; verify current inclusions on their site. GridTrade uses a single tier: €24.99/month, all features.
Caveat: Tradezella pricing may change at any time. The figures above reflect our reading of their public pricing page as of May 2026 and are not warranted to be current. Please verify on tradezella.com before any purchase decision.
3 differences that matter for funded-account traders
Friction = reflection.
Tradezella sells broker auto-import as a top feature: "stop wasting time typing trades." GridTrade rejects that frame. Typing the trade IS the reflection moment — choosing setup tag, rating emotion 1-5, marking valid/invalid, noting why. When trades auto-import, that 60-second pause vanishes — and so does most of the journal's value. If you want clicks-saved, Tradezella wins. If you want a journaling habit, manual matters.
No tier-gating on multi-account or emotion.
Based on Tradezella's publicly listed tiers as of May 2026, lower tiers may have more limited capabilities, with broader multi-account workflow, advanced analytics, and certain emotion/mood tools sitting in higher tiers (verify current inclusions on their site). GridTrade gives you everything at €24.99 — single tier, no feature-gating. Different business model, different price structure.
A focused tool, not a funnel.
Tradezella offers a Mentor / coaching tier as part of their product mix — which some traders genuinely value. GridTrade deliberately doesn't bundle coaching, paid Discord communities, or premium-content modules. Just the software, at one price. That's a stylistic preference, not a judgment — if you actively want coaching alongside your journal, Tradezella may be the better fit.
Where Tradezella genuinely wins
- Broker auto-import polish. Tradezella's integrations with US brokers (and many crypto exchanges) are well-maintained. If you place hundreds of trades a week and manual entry is genuinely impractical, that integration depth matters. GridTrade explicitly chooses manual — fair to weigh that against your workflow.
- Built-in backtesting. Tradezella lets you replay historical bars and test strategies inside the journal. GridTrade doesn't ship backtesting — we focus on the live-trading review loop. If you mix backtesting + journaling in one tool, Tradezella is the more integrated answer.
- Mentor program (if you want it). If structured coaching alongside journaling appeals to you, Tradezella's bundled Mentor tier is unique. GridTrade explicitly doesn't do this — different bet.
Frequently asked
€24.99/month, single tier, all features. No hidden tier, no add-on, no bundled coaching. The only optional add-on is buying us a coffee if you really like it. €299.88/year total, cancel anytime.
Not via direct API yet. You can export from Tradezella as CSV, but our import is currently manual — by design we want you to re-touch each trade during migration (forces a review pass). A CSV import is on the roadmap for traders with 500+ historical trades.
No — we explicitly focus on the live-trading review loop, not strategy backtesting. If backtesting inside the journal is core to your workflow, Tradezella is the better fit. If you backtest in TradingView/Sierra/NinjaTrader and journal separately, GridTrade slots in cleanly.
Anyone can sign up — hosting is in the EU but the product is global. US traders are welcome; you'll get EU data-protection standards by default, which is a nice side-effect. Pricing is in EUR (≈$27 USD at current rates).
